Why we love this African basket
This basket is ethically crafted and locally sourced, and the artisans use natural fibers and organic dyes to sustainably make it. Your purchase works towards alleviating poverty and unemployment in East Africa while supporting artisans in their pursuit of greater things.
Avoid soaking, if spilled on and soaked, ensure to pat dry and air out, or mold could build up and the natural dyes could run.
Made of natural fibers and grass; do not submerge in water. If necessary, use a damp cloth to wipe or spot clean. Avoid using chemicals or detergents.
Due to being all natural fibers, keep dyed products out of direct sunlight for long periods of time to avoid natural fading. All natural products with little or no coloring do well in direct sunlight.
When you buy from KAZI, you support artisans in marginalized communitties by giving them fair wage employment. The company also donated proceeds to NEST, which is building a new handworker economy to generate global workforce inclusivity, improve women's wellbeing beyond factories.

Truly Ethical Crafting
Global artisan work is notoriously unregulated, underserved, and unprotected. KAZI is currently one of only five companies to carry the Nest Seal of Ethical Handcraft on their treasures — the highest standards for assessing artisan homeworker production and supply chains. So when you purchase this treasure, you can feel good knowing everything is ethically made in a home or small workshop.
